Position Title: Atlassian Administrator IT Services Level III

Reports To: Application Support Team Lead

Division: 11 Group: 80

Summary of Position:

The Atlassian Administrator is responsible for implementing, maintaining, upgrading and supporting all the Atlassian application and tools used inside the Lab. These tools include JIRA, Confluence, Stash, Fisheye, Crucible, Bamboo and future integrations such as Hipchat. The person is also responsible for the day-to-day activities of creating projects inside Jira and working with Laboratory end users to provide them support as needed by their projects in terms of Atlassian tools.

Primary Duties

1. Implement, Maintain, upgrade, support and write support documents for all the Atlassian applications and tools used inside the Lab which includes JIRA, Confluence, Stash, Fisheye, Crucible, Bamboo and future integrations such as Hipchat.

2. Provide day to day and off hours support and monitoring for the Atlassian applications and projects.

3. Provide technical expertise in the diagnosis and resolution of issues, including the determination and provision of workaround solutions.

4. Ensure that the deployed application infrastructure adheres to Laboratory defined architectural standards. This includes testing patches and upgrades across development and QA environments.

Under General Supervision, the incumbent develops procedures for the performance of a variety of duties or performs complex duties within established policy guidelines.


Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience in administering all the Atlassian tools
  • Experience in supporting day-to-day project activities related to Atlassian tools
  • Experience in administering Linux Operating Environment (Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4, 5)
  • Experience in developing Shell Scripts (languages including Korn, Born or C Shell)
  • Working knowledge of Java/J2EE, JSP, EJB
  • Experience with web analytics packages
  • Experience with LDAP Servers (ie, Active Directory, Novell eDirectory)
  • Experience with Oracle Database 9i/10g/11g
  • Experience in writing technical documentation
  • Experience in implementing new technologies in an enterprise environment.


  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field.or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant application administration experience.


The ability to obtain and maintain a givernment (DoD) security clearance is required.
